Pensée: between color, memory and legend
In ancient times, the pansy flower was famous for its delicate fragrance that filled the fields with perfume. But men, fascinated by its fragrance, trampled the meadows to pick it, destroying the animals' precious pastures. Seeing this, the pansy prayed to God to take away its fragrance, sacrificing its sweet scent to protect the animals' food. Since then, it has been adorned with another richness: vibrant colors and a symbolism that spans the ages.
In England, it was nicknamed the tricolor grass because of the three colors present on its original petals. This particularity gave it a double meaning: the symbol of the Christian Trinity and that of romantic love. It also became the flower of remembrance, hence its name, "pansy", which simply means "I think of you". To offer a pansy was to send a sweet and silent message: pink for fidelity, blue for trust, purple for nostalgia and black for sorrow.
Inspired by these legends and this strong symbolism, Maison Ciléa has imagined the Pensée costume necklace.
